Posted by

In the Afrobeat world, rare and exceptional talents stand out from the crowd. These talents are not only quickly identified by their unique voices, but they also warm their way to the hearts of their listeners. Some of these rare talents are Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido and the exceptionally talented Nonye Toria.

Nonye Toria is a gifted vocalist, an intelligent lyricist, and a great performer. Her commanding presence on stage has earned her the throne as the Queen of Afrobeat.

Nonye Toria is mainly known for her compelling voice that has an immediate impact in capturing the attention of anyone. In 2008, Nonye impressed the Queen of England with an outstanding performance when she performed for her. The musical song Nonye performed then was called “Godspell”; her number “Day by Day” was the Queen’s favourite. Many of her fans have described her as Afrobeat’s vocal powerhouse. This description is quite befitting for the Queen of Afrobeat.

Nonye perform for the Queen of England

Nonye Toria, from a royal lineage in Delta State, Nigeria, has a rich cultural and musical background. She played the flute as a child, she was part of the Sarafina Musical at Dominican Primary School, and in 2006, she joined the Mo-Town Band at Berkshire College, Langley, UK.

As a member of the band, she performed covers from “The Temptation”, “Johnny Cash”, and some old-school blues. She has also featured in some episodes of “EastEnders”, a popular TV drama in Britain. One would not be wrong to believe that Nonye Toria’s musical background has been the secret behind her present level of sublime musical brilliance and professionalism.
More so, Nonye Toria has the style, spirit, and fierce personality that characterises Afrobeat. Afrobeat has grown from a music genre to a culture. The level of acceptability that the genre has received worldwide has made it a global phenomenon.

So many artists appreciate Afrobeat music for its commercial purposes. Nonye believes music, especially Afrobeat, is therapeutic. In one of her latest interviews, Nonye told us that making music to heal the earth and the soul is her passion.

Nonetheless, she displays versatility in style. Her hit single Bad Girl is proof of her creativity.
Nonye, who got signed to Saint Alexandra Entertainment in March 2022, just released her debut album, Felicitas Saeculi. With the quality and standard of a 12 tracks album, Nonye Toria has proven that no one comes close to her sound as the Queen of Afrobeat. Felicitas Saeculi is available on streaming platforms.
